If This Site Does Not Work For You, Tell Us

How we build this site so it works with screen readers and keyboards, what we are still fixing, and how to reach a person if something does not work for you.

The standard we build to

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 at level AA. That is the standard courts and regulators in the United States generally point to.

In practice that means: every image either carries a text description or is marked decorative so a screen reader skips it rather than reading out a filename, every control can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, there is a skip link past the navigation, text meets contrast minimums in both light and dark mode, headings run in order so a screen reader can navigate by structure, tap targets are large enough to hit, and nothing depends on color alone to make sense.

Where we are not there yet

We would rather tell you than claim perfection.

The illustrations inside our older blog posts are marked decorative, so a screen reader passes over them. That is deliberate: they sit under a heading that already states the topic, and a redundant description is noise. But a few of them probably do carry information we should be describing properly, and we have not gone through them one by one yet.

Those images are now served from our own site rather than from our previous platform, so they will not disappear if that account ever lapses.

The property search on this site may include a map and listing data provided by a third party. Where that is the case, we do not control its markup and cannot guarantee it meets the same standard. If it blocks you, call us and we will do the search with you and send you the results directly. That is a real offer, not a formality.

Getting a person instead

Anything this site does, a person here can do with you instead. Property searches, home values, disclosures, document review, scheduling a showing.

Call or text Michelle at 661-219-5517, or email hello@dubnerrealestate.com. Tell us what you ran into and what format works best for you. We will get back to you the same day, and we will fix the underlying problem as well as helping you around it.

If you use a screen reader or another assistive technology and something on this site fights you, that is genuinely useful information and we would like to hear it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What standard does this site aim for?

WCAG 2.1 level AA, which is the standard United States courts and regulators generally point to.

Something on the site does not work with my screen reader. What now?

Call or text Michelle at 661-219-5517 or email hello@dubnerrealestate.com. Tell us what you hit and what format works for you. We will get you what you needed the same day and fix the underlying problem as well.

Can I do everything by phone instead?

Yes. Property searches, home values, disclosures, document review and scheduling can all be done with a person. That is a real offer, not a formality.

Is the property search accessible?

Where listing data or a map comes from a third-party provider we do not control its markup and cannot guarantee it meets the same standard. If it blocks you, call us and we will run the search with you and send the results directly.

What are you still fixing?

Some images inside older blog posts migrated from our previous platform are missing text descriptions, and some of those posts have heading levels out of order. We are working through them.

How do I report an accessibility problem?

661-219-5517, or hello@dubnerrealestate.com. A person reads it, usually the same day.
